Central Bank's Art Workshop 2013
The Central Bank of Trinidad and Tobago hosted its first ever schools art competition during the month of August 2013. Entries were received from participants from across the country and work was judged based on specific criteria as outlined by an expert panel of judges.During the period of judging however it was felt that although many students had not made the mark to receive a prize in the competition, that they did show great promise in terms of their techniques, originality and creativity in representing the theme of the competition. As a result it was decided that as a follow up to the competition the bank would host a workshop for these young artists.
The workshop was held on Saturday 9th November, 2013. The session was facilitated by artists Paul Cain and the Bank’s very own Al Alexander and saw the participation of 15 students from across the country. All the students who participated were entrants in the Art Competition. The aim of this workshop was to encourage and support young creative minds to develop their skills in the field of visual arts and to educate them on the history of visual arts in Trinidad and Tobago as well as the world.
During the workshop the students benefited from hands on training with professional artists on some of the basic and fundamental techniques of drawing and painting. The workshop was highly interactive and allowed the participants to freely interact with the facilitator and their peers while exploring the own possibilities of their talent. The Central Bank is and has been since its inception a proud supporter of the visual arts and artists in Trinidad and Tobago.
This workshop is a continuation of that work of support which we will take pride in for generations to come. On behalf of the Management and staff of the Central Bank of Trinidad and Tobago the Corporate Communications Department would like to thank the students for coming out and the parents for supporting their children in this exercise.
