The Central Bank of Trinidad and Tobago (Bank) invites applications for the position of Visiting Academic Scholar (Econometrics) for a six-month attachment period from April-September 2024. The chosen Visiting Scholar is expected to work with economists in the Research Department of the Bank to refine and/or develop a macroeconomic model of the Trinidad and Tobago economy. Knowledge transfer and skill development of staff is very important to the Bank in building institutional capacity. Engagement Details
The Visiting Scholar is expected to fully contribute to the macro model project by engaging with the in-house team virtually on a bi-monthly basis. The scope of works includes guiding economists with the formulation, testing and operationalisation of suitable models for the Trinidad and Tobago economy. To reinforce knowledge transfer, the Visiting Scholar is also expected to be in-residence at the Department for a period of two weeks during the attachment period. During this period, the Visiting Scholar can deliver lectures to the Department on current advance approaches to modelling that are relevant for central bankers. In order to ensure the maximum benefits are accrued to both the Visiting Scholar and involved staff, the Visiting Scholar will not be required to fulfil any supervisory or administrative responsibilities.
What We Offer
The Visiting Scholar will receive a flat monthly retainer fee for the duration of the engagement and when in-residence, a travel budget to cover daily expenses, accommodation and return air fare.
